The NMDC Bailadila Kabaddi League has officially begun in the Dantewada district of Chhattisgarh, marking a significant step towards promoting grassroots sports in rural and tribal communities. Organized by NMDC Limited under its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programme, the inaugural edition of the tournament aims to identify and develop young kabaddi players from remote villages across the Bailadila mining region.
Running from July 23 to July 26, 2026, the NMDC Kabaddi Tournament brings together 24 teams representing 26 Gram Panchayats. By providing a structured platform for competition, NMDC hopes to create opportunities for talented players to progress to higher levels of the sport while strengthening the sporting culture in the region.
NMDC Bailadila Kabaddi League Brings Villages Together
The league is being held at two venues in Dantewada district: the Hockey Ground in Bacheli and the Football Stadium in Kirandul. The participating teams have been divided across the two operational regions covered by NMDC.
The Bacheli region features teams from 14 villages, including Molasnar, Dugeli, Padhapur, Benpal, Bade Kameli, Kamalur, Jhirka, Dhurli, Gamawada, Nerli, Bade Bacheli, Masenar, Ganjenar and Bhansi.
Meanwhile, the Kirandul region has teams representing 12 villages, namely Kodenar, Kadampal, Madadi, Cholnar, Tikanpal, Kalepal, Samalwar, Madkamiras, Hiroli, Kutrem, Gumiyapal and Taneli.
The participation of 26 Gram Panchayats highlights the community-driven nature of the event and reflects NMDC’s commitment to expanding sports opportunities in rural India.
Professional Facilities for a Grassroots Tournament

To ensure player safety and maintain international-quality standards, NMDC has installed waterproof German hangars and professional synthetic rubber mats at the competition venues. These facilities allow players to compete in a safe environment regardless of weather conditions.
In addition, all 24 participating teams have received complete sports kits, footwear and professional playing equipment. Such support helps reduce barriers for young athletes who may not otherwise have access to quality sporting gear.
