As part of the nationwide Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan (NMBA), Government Degree College (GDC) Qazigund held a friendly Kabaddi match to promote a drug-free lifestyle among the youth. Organized by the college’s Well-Being & Anti-Substance Abuse Cell, the event combined athletic competition with a powerful social message, encouraging students to choose sports over substance use.
The day began with a formal pledge administered to both faculty and students, followed by a display of anti-drug slogans across the campus. College Principal Prof. Sudhir Singh addressed the gathering, noting that sports serve as a critical shield against the rising tide of drug abuse. He emphasized that the discipline and positive peer environments found in athletics are essential for steering young people toward healthy, constructive lives.
