The Nepal Men’s Kabaddi Team has departed for Haryana, India, to begin an intensive one-month training camp as part of its preparations for the 20th Asian Games in Aichi Nagoya, Japan. The exposure camp is aimed at improving the team’s fitness, skills, and match readiness before one of the biggest competitions in Asian sport.

Before the team’s departure, a farewell ceremony was held in Kathmandu, where National Sports Council Vice Chairman Bishal Shrestha and All Nepal Kabaddi Association President Tulsi Thapa wished the players and coaching staff success for the upcoming campaign.

Nepal Kabaddi Training Camp Begins in Haryana

The Nepal Kabaddi training camp will be held at the well known Sandeep Narwal Academy in Haryana. The squad is scheduled to spend 30 days at the facility, taking part in high-intensity practice sessions designed to prepare them for the challenges of the Asian Games.

The training camp will be supervised by head coach Bishnu Datt Bhatta and assistant coach Kalyan Bhujel. Team manager Parshuram Oli is expected to join the squad later during the preparation period.

The exposure camp is expected to provide valuable experience as Nepal prepares to face some of Asia’s strongest kabaddi nations.

Further Preparation Plans Before Asian Games

The Nepal Kabaddi Asian Games preparation will not necessarily end after the Haryana camp.

According to the All Nepal Kabaddi Association, the team may travel to Thailand for joint training sessions and practice matches against Chinese Taipei. These matches would give the players valuable international experience before heading to Japan.

If the Thailand tour does not take place, the association plans to extend the team’s stay in India. Additional training sessions and practice matches are likely to be held in Jaipur and Uttar Pradesh against strong Indian domestic clubs.

Once the preparation programme is complete, the Nepal squad will travel directly from its international training base to Japan for the Asian Games.

Nepal Announce 12-Member Squad

The Nepal Men’s Kabaddi team includes a balanced combination of raiders, defenders, and all rounders.

The raiding department features Ghanshyam Rokka Magar, Anku Pun, Adit Chaudhary, and Prakash Giri.

The defensive unit includes Suraj Bohara, Sanskar Kumar, Ravi Tharu, and Ashok Joshi.

Meanwhile, Sagar Yadav, Kumar Lama, Ganesh Parki, and Karun Rasaili have been selected as all-rounders.

Four players, Ghanshyam, Anku, Ravi, and Karun, were already training in Haryana and Himachal Pradesh before the rest of the squad arrived. They will now join the full team for the month-long camp.

Big Challenge Awaits at the Asian Games

The Nepal Kabaddi Asian Games preparation comes ahead of the team’s fifth appearance at the Asian Games. Nepal previously competed in the men’s kabaddi event in 1990, 1994, 1998, and 2018.

At the 20th Asian Games, Nepal have been placed in a difficult Group B alongside kabaddi powerhouses Iran and Pakistan, as well as Thailand and Malaysia.

The strong group means Nepal will need to be at their very best to compete for a place in the knockout rounds.

The month-long Nepal Kabaddi training camp is expected to play a crucial role in helping the players improve both individually and as a team. With valuable international exposure and quality practice matches planned, the Nepal Men’s Kabaddi team will hope to arrive in Japan fully prepared to challenge some of Asia’s strongest kabaddi nations.
