Indian kabaddi has been hit by a major setback after all-rounder Brijendra Singh Choudhary was stripped of his silver medal from the 6th Asian Beach Games in Sanya, China. Choudhary was found to have committed an anti-doping rule violation during the competition. The decision has resulted in the disqualification of his personal result from the event and has raised fresh concerns around doping in Indian kabaddi. The case is now set to move to the International Kabaddi Federation for further action.

Brijendra Singh Choudhary Doping Violation

Choudhary tested positive on April 27, 2026, for brinzolamide, a substance classified by the World Anti-doping Agency as a diuretic and masking agent. The substance is prohibited at all times, meaning it is banned both during competitions and outside competition periods. The test was conducted in connection with the Asian Beach Games campaign.

The International Testing Agency announced the sanction on behalf of the Olympic Council of Asia. Choudhary accepted the consequences of the violation, which led to the automatic disqualification of his individual results from the Games. As a result, his silver medal from the Men’s Beach Kabaddi event has been taken away.

India Asian Beach Games Medal Stripped

The 6th Asian Beach Games were held in Sanya, Hainan, China, from April 22 to April 30, 2026. India had enjoyed a strong campaign in beach kabaddi, with the men’s team winning silver and the women’s team securing gold. Choudhary was part of the men’s squad that finished with the silver medal.

The ruling specifically concerns Choudhary’s individual result and medal under the applicable anti-doping rules. Since the athlete accepted the consequences and did not challenge the decision, no formal dispute hearing was required. The case therefore moved forward without a separate hearing process.

Impact on Indian Kabaddi

The Brijendra Singh Choudhary doping case is another difficult moment for Indian kabaddi. Choudhary is an experienced all-rounder who has also played in the Pro Kabaddi League for Dabang Delhi K.C. His experience on the national circuit made him an important player for the Indian beach kabaddi squad.

The decision also shows how strict anti-doping rules can directly affect athletes and their results. The substance involved in the case is prohibited under the WADA rules, and the relevant authorities have acted according to the established process. The case could now have further consequences for Choudhary depending on the decision taken by the International Kabaddi Federation.

What Happens Next?

With the Olympic Council of Asia proceedings now closed, the matter has been handed over to the International Kabaddi Federation. The IKF will determine whether Choudhary should receive a period of ineligibility or another prospective ban from domestic and international competition.

For Indian kabaddi, the incident serves as an important reminder of the need for athletes and support staff to remain fully aware of anti-doping rules. The India Asian Beach Games medal stripped decision changes the record of the 2026 campaign and will remain a significant part of the India kabaddi doping case. Choudhary’s future participation will now depend on the next decision from the International Kabaddi Federation.
