A Crucial Step Towards the 2026 Asian Games

India’s preparation for the 2026 Asian Games has entered an important stage with the successful completion of the IIS Bellary high performance camp. Held from March 27 to April 2, 2026, the camp brought together some of the country’s best kabaddi players as they began their journey towards representing India in Nagoya, Japan.

The camp was organized through a joint effort by the Amateur Kabaddi Federation of India (AKFI) and Mashal Sports. The aim was simple: help athletes improve their fitness, strength, recovery, and overall readiness for one of the biggest sporting events in Asia.

Top Players Gathered at IIS Bellary

The camp featured a pool of 90 probables, including 45 men and 45 women. Several well-known players took part, including Pawan Sehrawat, Naveen Kumar, Arjun Deshwal, Aslam Inamdar, and Ritu Negi.

Instead of focusing only on traditional practice sessions, the camp used the advanced facilities available at the Inspire Institute of Sport. This allowed athletes to train in a professional environment similar to what they experience in elite competitions.

The IIS Bellary training camp analysis shows that the focus was not only on current stars but also on building a stronger talent pool for the future. By training a large group of athletes together, the federation hopes to raise the overall standard of Indian kabaddi.

Focus on Modern Training Methods

One of the biggest highlights of the camp was the use of sports science. Coaches and trainers worked closely with athletes to improve fitness levels and manage the physical demands of kabaddi.

Personalized strength and conditioning programs helped players build endurance and stay prepared for high-intensity matches. Recovery methods were also an important part of the schedule, ensuring athletes could perform consistently throughout long training sessions.

The camp followed training methods similar to those used in the Pro Kabaddi League. This approach helps players remain ready for the fast pace and physical nature of an international competition.

What Games Are Played in the Asian Games?

Many sports fans ask what games are played in the Asian Games. The 2026 Asian Games in Aichi Nagoya will feature 41 sports across 68 disciplines.

Popular sports include cricket, football, hockey, basketball, volleyball, rugby sevens, boxing, wrestling, judo, karate, taekwondo, and kabaddi. New additions such as surfing, breaking, and mixed martial arts will also make the event even more exciting.

The Asian Games bring together thousands of athletes from across the continent, making it one of the most important sporting competitions outside the Olympic Games.

Athlete Preparation for Asian Games Success

Effective athlete preparation for Asian Games competition requires much more than physical training. Indian kabaddi players are now moving through a phased development plan that includes tactical improvement, match simulation, and mental conditioning.

Training sessions focus on better teamwork in defense, quicker movement for raiders, and decision-making under pressure. Coaches also create match-like situations to help athletes stay calm during crucial moments.

The IIS Bellary high performance camp has laid a strong foundation for India’s Asian Games campaign. As preparations continue, the lessons learned in Bellary could play a key role in helping Indian kabaddi athletes achieve success on the road to Nagoya 2026.
