The third edition of the Khele Sanand tournament reached a thrilling peak on March 24 at the Sanskardham Campus in Ahmedabad. Telav village celebrated a landmark achievement by capturing top honors in both the male and female Kho Kho divisions, while Mankol village continued its impressive reign in the Kabaddi arena. These finals highlight the growing competitive spirit and athletic potential found among grassroots participants in the Sanand region.
The day was defined by high-stakes matches that saw returning champions and new victors emerge from the talent pool. Notable results from the March 24 session include:
- Telav Girls (U-14 Kho Kho): Defeated Goraj with a final score of 16-12 to successfully defend their title for the second year in a row.
- Telav Boys (U-14 Kho Kho): Claimed their maiden championship trophy after a 22-15 win over Kodaliya, completing a historic “double” for their village.
- Mankol (Open Kabaddi): Cemented their legacy with a 38-26 win against Gokulpura, marking their third consecutive title in the competition.
While three major trophies have already been awarded, the tournament organized by the Vijayi Bharat Foundation (VBF) is not yet over. Two pivotal matches are still on the horizon for March 30, featuring the U-14 Boys Kabaddi final between Shela and Andej, along with the U-14 Girls Kabaddi final between Zamp and D.G. School, Sanand. These upcoming games are expected to draw significant crowds of local supporters and families to witness the next generation of stars.
The VBF initiative remains a critical vehicle for nurturing young talent and instilling discipline through traditional Indian athletics. By offering a structured platform for rural youth, Khele Sanand focuses on long-term character development alongside physical fitness and sportsmanship. The foundation encourages the local community of the Sanand Taluka to attend and cheer for the athletes during the event’s grand conclusion on March 30.
