The Amateur Kabaddi Federation of India (AKFI) has officially named Yalamanchili Srikanth as the Chairman of the Beach National Commission (BNC). This prestigious appointment was confirmed during the federation’s Annual General Meeting (AGM), which took place in Vadodara in coordination with the Senior National Kabaddi Championship for Men. As part of a broader organizational restructuring, the AKFI established several sub-committees to ensure that various state bodies and institutional units are well-represented in the governance of the sport.
Srikanth, who currently serves as the General Secretary of the Andhra Kabaddi Association (AKA), was selected primarily due to his track record of promoting the sport’s coastal variant. His leadership was instrumental in several key milestones that caught the federation’s attention:
- The flawless execution of last year’s Senior National Beach Kabaddi Championship hosted at Manginapudi Beach in Machilipatnam.
- The tactical success of the Andhra Pradesh men’s squad, who secured the gold medal at that very tournament.
- His consistent efforts in elevating the technical and organizational standards of kabaddi within the state.
This move is widely regarded as a significant achievement for the Andhra Kabaddi Association, signaling its rising influence within the national sporting landscape. By placing a seasoned administrator from Andhra Pradesh at the helm of the Beach National Commission, the AKFI aims to further professionalize beach kabaddi across India. The state’s recent championship victory, combined with Srikanth’s expertise, has solidified Andhra’s reputation as a primary hub for the sport’s development.
