Dabang Delhi K.C. Chase a Place in PKL History
Dabang Delhi K.C. achieved a historic milestone when they won the Pro Kabaddi League Season 12 title in front of their home fans at the Thyagaraj Indoor Stadium. Their thrilling 31 to 28 victory over Puneri Paltan ended a long wait and made them the first team since U Mumba in Season 2 to win the championship on home soil.
However, winning one title is only the beginning. The real challenge now is whether Dabang Delhi can build a rare Pro Kabaddi League dynasty and dominate the competition for years to come.
Only the Patna Pirates have managed to create a true dynasty by winning three consecutive titles. Dabang Delhi now hopes to follow a similar path.
The Foundation of a Championship Team
One of the biggest reasons behind Delhi’s success was their balanced squad. The team did not rely on just one star player. Instead, every department contributed when needed.
Veteran defender Fazel Atrachali played a key role throughout the season. His leadership, experience, and defensive strength helped Delhi stay calm in pressure situations.
In the final, raiders Neeraj Narwal and Ajinkya Pawar stepped up when the team needed important points. Their performances ensured Delhi remained in control against a strong Puneri Paltan side.
Head coach Joginder Narwal also deserves significant credit. He became only the second person in PKL history to win the title as both a player and a coach.
The Challenge of Maintaining Squad Depth
A major strength of Dabang Delhi’s title-winning campaign was their squad depth.
Whenever key players were unavailable or under pressure, other members of the squad stepped forward. This flexibility allowed the team to remain competitive throughout the season.
The problem is that success attracts attention. Rival franchises will be eager to sign Delhi’s supporting players in future auctions. Maintaining a strong bench will be one of the toughest challenges for the champions.
If Delhi can retain their depth, they will remain one of the strongest teams in the league.
Strong Rivals Are Ready to Strike Back
The road to another title will not be easy.
Puneri Paltan will return motivated after narrowly missing out on the championship. Their young players gained valuable experience and will be determined to go one step further next season.
The Gujarat Giants are also preparing for a new era under legendary coach Randhir Singh Sehrawat. With players like Mohammadreza Shadloui in the squad, Gujarat could become a serious title contender.
At the same time, traditional powers such as Patna Pirates will continue rebuilding their squad and searching for another championship run.
Winning Close Matches Is Not Always Enough
Many of Delhi’s victories came in tight contests. Their ability to stay calm under pressure helped them secure important wins.
While this quality is valuable, relying on close finishes can be risky. To become a long term powerhouse, Delhi must find ways to dominate matches earlier and avoid unnecessary pressure in the final moments.
A stronger defensive approach could help them achieve that goal.
Can Dabang Delhi Build a Dynasty?
The signs are certainly encouraging. Dabang Delhi K.C. have a successful coach, experienced leaders, talented raiders, and one of the strongest defensive units in the league.
History shows that building a dynasty in the Pro Kabaddi League is extremely difficult. Yet Delhi possess the structure and stability needed to challenge that trend.
With a championship-winning core already in place, the reigning champions have a genuine opportunity to turn one title into a lasting legacy.
