District Poonch emerged as the champions of the Inter District Divisional Level Kabaddi Tournament for Under-14 Boys after defeating District Rajouri by 23 points in the final at the Indoor Sports Stadium in Doda. The tournament was organised by the Department of Youth Services and Sports (YSS), Jammu and Kashmir, from September 8 to September 10, 2026.
The Divisional kabaddi championship Doda event brought together young players from different districts of the Jammu division. Poonch produced a strong performance throughout the competition and maintained its composure in the final to secure the title, while Rajouri finished as the runners-up.
Poonch Dominate the Final
The final between Poonch and Rajouri was an intense contest between two neighbouring border districts. Both teams showed attacking intent during the early stages, but Poonch gradually established control through disciplined raids and strong defensive work.
Poonch’s defenders played an important role in limiting Rajouri’s scoring opportunities. Their ability to execute crucial tackles prevented Rajouri from collecting multiple points through successful raids and helped Poonch maintain its advantage.
As the match progressed, Poonch continued to increase the gap. Rajouri attempted to fight back, but the champions remained composed and did not allow their opponents to build sustained momentum.
Poonch eventually secured a 23-point victory, completing an impressive run through the U-14 kabaddi championship.
Rajouri Reach Final After Big Semi-final Win
Rajouri had entered the final after producing one of the strongest performances in the semi-final stage. They defeated Samba by 33 points in the first semi-final.
The result demonstrated Rajouri’s attacking strength and helped them book their place in the championship match. However, they faced a much tougher challenge against Poonch in the final.
Despite finishing as runners up, Rajouri’s run to the final highlighted the quality and potential of the young players representing the district.
Poonch Overcome Ramban in Semi-final
Poonch secured their place in the final after defeating Ramban by 20 points in the second semi-final. The team showed strong defensive organisation throughout the match and managed to keep a resilient Ramban side under pressure.
That defensive performance proved valuable in the final as well. Poonch continued to rely on disciplined tackles while carefully managing their raids, giving them the platform needed to maintain their lead against Rajouri.
Recognition for Young Players
The tournament also provided an important platform for young kabaddi players from across the Jammu division. The three-day competition allowed the players to compete at a high level while gaining valuable experience in a competitive environment.
District Youth Services and Sports Officer (DYSSO) Doda, Ashok Kumar, presided over the closing ceremony. He praised the standard of sportsmanship, refereeing and athletic talent displayed throughout the tournament.
The Divisional kabaddi championship Doda concluded with Poonch lifting the Under-14 title and Rajouri finishing runners-up. The performances of both teams highlighted the growing depth of young kabaddi talent across the region and provided an encouraging platform for the next generation of players.
