AMDASCAM (Atoukhong) and NAYA (Nongmaikhong Awang Leikai) were crowned the men’s and women’s champions at the 73rd Senior State Kabaddi Championship in Manipur. The tournament, organised by the Manipur State Kabaddi Association, concluded at the EYMDO playground in Wabagai Mayai Leikai.
The championships brought together several leading kabaddi teams from across the state, with the knockout stages producing competitive contests in both divisions. AMDASCAM completed a strong campaign in the men’s competition, while NAYA secured the women’s title after overcoming VETO in the final.
AMDASCAM Beat VETO to Win Men’s Title
The men’s final produced a competitive contest between AMDASCAM and VETO (Laphupat Tera). AMDASCAM eventually held their nerve to secure a 32–25 victory and lift the men’s state championship trophy.
AMDASCAM had already shown their strength in the semifinal, where they defeated SLYO (Tekcham) 51–18. The 33-point victory sent them into the final with considerable momentum and set up a title clash against VETO.
VETO also produced a convincing performance in their semifinal, beating WSWC (Wabagai) 42–19. They therefore entered the final after a 23-point victory, but AMDASCAM proved too strong in the title decider.
NAYA Claim Women’s Championship
NAYA produced a strong performance to become the women’s champions after defeating VETO 24–12 in the final. The result capped an impressive knockout campaign for NAYA, although their semifinal was considerably closer than the title match.
In the last four, NAYA faced NYDA (Nongmaikhong Makha Leikai) and secured a narrow 20–18 victory. The two-point margin made it one of the most closely contested knockout matches of the tournament.
VETO, meanwhile, reached the women’s final after defeating LYUC (Lourembam) 28–9. Despite their convincing semifinal victory, they could not overcome NAYA in the championship match.
VETO Finish as Runners-Up in Both Divisions
One of the notable features of the Senior State Kabaddi Championship results was VETO’s run to the final in both the men’s and women’s competitions. The team from Laphupat Tera therefore finished runners-up in both divisions.
The achievement highlights the strength and consistency of VETO across the two categories. However, AMDASCAM and NAYA ultimately secured the titles with impressive performances in their respective finals.
The men’s competition featured 10 teams divided into two round-robin pools, Pool A and Pool B, before the tournament moved into the knockout phase. Teams such as MPSC, CCYPAC (Lilong) and SLYO were among the participating sides.
Md Manjur and N Bidyapati Named Best Players
The State kabaddi championship 2026 also recognised outstanding individual performances. Md Manjur of AMDASCAM was named the Best Player in the men’s division after playing an important role in his team’s successful campaign.
N Bidyapati of NAYA received the Best Player award in the women’s division. Her contribution helped NAYA navigate a close semifinal before completing their campaign with a 24–12 victory in the final.
The conclusion of the tournament provides another major update in State kabaddi latest news, with AMDASCAM and NAYA adding their names to the list of state champions after successful campaigns in Manipur.
