The 73rd edition of the Maharashtra Senior States Kabaddi Championship reached its climax in Sinnar, Nashik, as Mumbai Upnagar emerged as the champion in the women’s division. Held between April 2 and April 6, 2026, the five-day tournament highlighted the incredible depth of talent currently thriving within the state’s kabaddi infrastructure. Thousands of spectators gathered to witness a series of high-stakes matches that showcased the physical prowess and tactical intelligence of Maharashtra’s finest female athletes.

The path to the championship trophy was anything but easy, as the semi-final round featured two of the most dramatic finishes in the tournament’s history. Both matches ended in deadlocks, forcing the teams into tense tiebreakers to determine who would advance to the final mat. These nail-biting encounters tested the mental fortitude of the players under extreme pressure.

Key results from the knockout stages included:

  • First Semi-final: Mumbai Upnagar and Pune fought to a 31-31 stalemate before Upnagar clinched the victory during a 5-5 raid tiebreaker.
  • Second Semi-final: Mumbai Shahar (City) and Ratnagiri also finished even at 24-24, with Mumbai Shahar narrowly progressing after winning their own 5-5 raid decider.
  • The Grand Final: Mumbai Upnagar delivered a clinical performance to overcome Mumbai Shahar with a final score of 37-25.

In the ultimate showdown against their city rivals, Mumbai Upnagar displayed a masterclass in both offensive raiding and defensive coordination. While Mumbai Shahar fought valiantly, they were unable to contain the consistent scoring and iron-clad defense of the Upnagar squad. This convincing twelve-point victory served as a fitting conclusion to a dominant campaign, cementing Mumbai Upnagar’s status as a powerhouse in the regional circuit.
