The Amateur Kabaddi Federation of India (AKFI) has revealed an extended list of probables for the Indian Women’s Kabaddi Team as preparations begin for the 2026 Asian Games.
These players will now take part in a training camp, where their fitness, performances, and tactical flexibility will be closely monitored. Following this phase, the squad will be trimmed down, with a final 14-member team set to be confirmed for the continental competition.
Strong legacy at the Asian Games
India’s women’s kabaddi side has long been a dominant presence at the Asian Games. The team secured gold medals in both 2010 and 2014, reinforcing its status as a leading force in the region.
While they finished with silver in 2018, the team responded strongly in the 2022 edition, reclaiming the gold medal after a tightly contested final. Their consistent appearances on the podium highlight both their depth and sustained success in the women’s format.
Focus shifts to Aichi-Nagoya 2026
With expectations once again high, India will be aiming to maintain their supremacy in kabaddi at the Asian Games 2026, scheduled to be held in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan, from September 19 to October 4.
However, they are expected to face strong competition from Iran, who remain among the key medal contenders in this year’s tournament.
