The Under-23 Boys Kabaddi Gold Cup kicked off with high energy at the MA Stadium’s Kabaddi Arena in Jammu. In the tournament’s first matchup, MA Sports Club secured a decisive victory over Shield Sports Club. The winning side displayed superior tactics throughout the competitive game, finishing with a 47-38 scoreline to claim a nine-point lead.
The competition was officially launched by Ms. Nuzhat Gull, the Secretary of the J&K Sports Council. During the opening ceremony, she met with the young athletes and the organizing officials to offer her encouragement. This sporting event serves as a tribute to the legacy of the late Arun Sharma, a distinguished Handball coach and former Sports Officer of the region.
Several prominent sports figures and community leaders attended the opening day to support the initiative:
- Shiv Kumar Sharma, President of Kreeda Bharati J&K.
- Dr. Kuldeep Gupta, General Secretary of JKAKA.
- Aman Sharma, Incharge of SAI STC Jammu.
- Akshay Khajuria, an international handball star and Deputy Superintendent of J&K Police.
The championship is a collaborative effort involving the J&K Amateur Kabaddi Association, the J&K Sports Council, and Kreeda Bharati, all coordinated by the Arun Sharma Sports & Social Welfare Trust. The tournament is scheduled to conclude tomorrow with a high-stakes final match and a formal closing ceremony.
